Stillmotion short – ‘gateway’

So this is our third short film that we’ve put together for Stillmotion’s contest! The theme was ‘gateway’ and we had a hard time with this theme. For some reason, the first one we ever did was the one that was the easiest to come up with a story. This one was a little tricky. We thought of all the things we could think of that mean ‘gateway’ and this is what we came up with, story and all in a minute long video… If we win first prize we actually get to go meet the team and go to a workshop which would be so incredible for us! We are always looking to improve our work and what better way to learn than from the cinematographers we look up to most:)

Charlotte and Jonathan – California Center for the Arts

Charlotte and Jonathan are such a cute young couple. One of the things I liked about their wedding – they had the typical speeches but then they had a ‘toast & roast’ so anyone could get up and tell an embarrassing story! They really had a fun time – so fun in fact that the groom chipped his tooth on the garter, that’s definitely a first for us to capture!

Isolation – Stillmotion Shorts

Hey everyone,

Some of you may have seen the last video we entered into the Stillmotion Shorts contest. We had so much fun with that one we decided to do another! The theme is isolation and it’s only a minute. Check out the contest here and vote for us if you like it.  And check out Stillmotion in general, they are really awesome:) Also, a big “thank you” to Seth and Dez of Zelo Photography for helping us out (by being extras, carrying our gear, driving, and buying water balloons–don’t ask).

Alana and Jed – Marina Village – San Diego

A fun group of people, a delicious meal and a beautiful couple, what more could you ask for on your wedding day? Alana and Jed were super awesome to work with. They had a best man dance and Jed’s mom sang (very well) to them. I think my favorite thing were the little couple Alana hand painted – you can see it right at the very beginning. Everyone seemed to have so much fun all day – congrats you two!!

enjoy…

…found

As much as we love to shoot weddings, it’s always fun to do something different. StillMotion, a company up in Canada started doing some fun contests for video shorts. They actually started it with their employees as a way to encourage creativity but they’ve since opened it to the public on their education section of their blog! The rules are that it can only be a minute and it has to take you less than 3 hours to make. And of course you have to follow the theme which for the first one was “found”. So here’s our interpretation of that theme…and soon you’ll see the next one! Here’s the link to the rest of the videos that competed…we didn’t win but we’re just happy we made the cut!

enjoy!

Lina and Eric – Casa De Shapiro – North San Diego County

Eric and Lina had a beautifully unique wedding. She’s from Denmark and so they included some Danish traditions – like grabbing the groom and cutting off the tip of his socks for example. The Danes had to learn some of our traditions as well like catching the bouquet. It was really neat seeing the two (who are obviously very much in love) combine their cultures and friends and family. Enjoy this emotional and awesome wedding!

We are so excited to share Alycia and Micah’s love story with you. We got to shoot their wedding today…yes today on a Monday and witness their first kiss!! They have quite the story of how they got together and we had the opportunity to shoot it with them and show it to all their family and friends tonight. So here it is…enjoy!

Sara and Adam – Orfila Winery – Escondido

What a great venue! We were thrilled with the lighting at this wedding and thought everything in general turned out great for Sara and Adam. We’ve actually worked weddings with Sara before since she has been Krista’s assistant for quite a while. It was so fun to hang out with all the vendors at this wedding, what a great celebration for a fellow vendor! They had a Vegas theme since that’s where they were headed for their honeymoon but my favorite part of their wedding was Sara’s dance with her step-dad. They choreographed an awesome dance! Adam and Sara look so happy together and you could just tell everyone was happy for them too:)Congratulations you two!!
