Mikey Show – Mikey’s Story

Hello everyone,

There are still a few more weddings we have to post from the fall, but first I have another non-wedding blog post to share with you:)

One of the local radio stations in San Diego has a morning show called the Mikey Show. It’s a show Jared and I listen to in the mornings actually:)The main DJ, Mikey, is a Christian and shares his uplifting and encouraging story every Friday afternoon. It’s an amazing story and we shot it for them.

So here is his story. It’s broken into two parts because it’s kind of long, but it is worth hearing. Definitely check it out!

enjoy…

Trash the Dress – Dan and Shannon – North San Diego County

Like I’ve said before, I really hate calling these shoots “trash the dress” because many times the dress is not “trashed”. You can trash your dress, but in this case, Shannon did not. I did one of these sessions myself after our wedding and my dress was only a bit dirtier than before! Other things we might call this session would be “after wedding”, “bridal session”, “flaunt the dress” or “bridal elegance” but it seems that the most recognizable name for this kind of shoot is “trash the dress” so it remains:)

So we did “trash the dress” shoot with Dan and Shannon and Zelo Photography. I think both the moving and still images turned out great!

Here it is!

Lisa and Brent – Engagement Fusion Project – Solana Beach

We have a very very fun video to share with you all! We collaborated with Seth and Dez of Zelo Photography to do a “behind the scenes” fusion shoot of their engagement session. All four of us are shooting this couple’s wedding next weekend so you will see more of Lisa and Brent soon! We had tons of fun shooting this and would love to do more (hint hint wedding vendors – check out our promo section on our site). Check it out on their blog here.

Enjoy:)

Mixed Media 80th Birthday Slide Show/Video

This family hired us for a birthday slide show but had just done an anniversary slide show 5 years earlier. They had told us that they really wanted to do something different. They figured if it just looked the same, what was the point? So we brainstormed about how we could make this slide show more unique than the typical baby-80 pictures.

We added some interviews, lots of fun music and text boxes to tell more of a story. I loved the theme of showing pictures of what he was doing in life during the different times of history. It was also really neat that one of their children sang a song for it too!

So, sit back and enjoy a fun slide show/video!

p.s. I “bleeped” out a word at the end for the purposes of the blog but how fun is that, the family really had that in there for this guy’s birthday because they knew he thought it would be funny…

2009 Scrabble-thon

February 7th marked the 5th annual Scrabble-thon! Escondido Library and the Center for Literacy contacted us to shoot this event for the library’s website. This is an awesome event that they have in order to raise money and promote literacy. They have an adult competition and a high school competition. It was really neat to see people of all ages enjoying a friendly competition of scrabble for a good cause!

So enjoy the video!

Coming soon…

Jared and I and our friends Seth and Dez (of Zelo Photography and Drag’n'Drop Video) are currently working on a little project for a small film festival in LA. It’s actually going to be a 3 minute film on 8mm film (hence the name 50 foot reels). After the show we’ll post the video.

Stay tuned…

ROCK SHOW – North San Diego County

A couple weeks ago, McMillan Music School had us film their “Rock Show”! The music school teaches drum, guitar, bass and vocal lessons. Instead of doing recitals to show off their work, they put together rock shows! The kids did an awesome job and they had so much fun performing. We had fun filming too…check out some of their music:

And here’s another song from the night:
Bittersweet by Jet Lag Gemini

"Red Light Movement" – April 27, 2008

We had the opportunity to film quite a different event this past weekend! It was a donation walk near Balboa Park to raise awareness about human trafficking. Many people know about labor and sex trafficking around the world but it’s a big problem here in San Diego too. It’s definitely an issue worth knowing about. So enjoy the quick recap of the benefit walk!

"Trash the Dress" – March 9, 2008

A couple weeks ago we got to do a “trash the dress” shoot. I put it in quotes because it’s kind of a misnomer. The idea of the shoot is for brides to have a chance to put their dresses back on and take pictures after their weddings without the worry of getting their dress dirty. Susie Linquist, who did our wedding photography, let us know about this event, and boy was it an event! There were tons of photographers and models. We actually went as models but brought our camera and shot a bit ourselves. Enjoy this short video and the wonderful photography from that day!

Sylvia’s 40th – January 26, 2008

Ahh, finally an “event”. We say we do weddings and events, but have only posted clips of weddings so far. So, here is a clip of a birthday party. Sylvia’s family and friends threw her an awesome 40th birthday party bash! I wish I had been a guest! There was great food, a DJ, dancing, a beautiful cake and really fun games with awesome prizes. This clip is a montage of the games. I have to say, her guests were very good sports and looked like they had a blast with these games! They were creative too, so if you need ideas for a party, take notes while you watch!

Happy Birthday Sylvia!
